Features

Cleanup
- Manual & Scheduled
Cleanups: The old cleanup features are being enhanced and super charged
to allow you to clear your Netscape Navigator and/or MS Internet
Explorer caches and the Windows temp folder -- plus delete lost
fragments, cookies, and history files. You can also schedule cleanups,
just check under the Cleanup menu.
Note: to disable the prompts just uncheck the "Always Show Delete
Prompts" from the tweaks menu.
You can now also cleanup the Windows XP Prefetch directory and Empty
the Recycle Bin.
- Windows XP Prefetch: control settings under the Tools
menu, you can now set the level of Prefetching!!
Information
- System
Information: If you load the app and click the systray icon, you'll
see a good snapshot of your system.
- Display/Launch
Common Apps: You can now display info and launch the follow from
the main window: Netscape, Mozilla, Opera, AOL IM, MSN, Trillian and
Yahoo messengers.
- MR Tech Log:
I was having problems with my power supply so I added this so that the
log would tell me how many times the computer was restarted. By reading
the file you can see whether the computer was properly shutdown or not.
I've also added the user logged in and how much space was recovered
with deleting the Temp & System Directory temp files. Currently the
file is saved to c:\MRTechRebootLog.txt . You can view or reset this
file from the File menu.
- Save Snapshot: Let's you save your current system settings
to a file (ctrl-s).
Keyboard
- Right & Left Click Options: the systray app gives you
some shortcuts by right-clicking the systray icon and a ton
of options if you left click on the icon. You also get links to
Control Panel and many of its shortcuts, launch pad for RegEdit,
SysEdit, WordPad, Notepad, and other common Windows modules. Beside
shutting down, restarting and logging off this new version now let's
you Lock Your Workstation, go on Standby or Hibernate!!!

Trillian and Yahoo, etc.
- Right-Click with /q /z: New options to the right-click of
an EXE file, Run with /Q option and Run with /Q /Z options. This option
can be disabled in the options menu. This is very useful for Microsoft
updates so that it doesn't prompt you to install or reboot

Tools
- Media
Toolkit/MP3 Renamer: which takes care of mp3 filename pet peeves
& sets a standard for naming them, feature includes full Artist
& Song parsing, full mp3 file detailed information & ability to
update the ID3 tag. With version 2.1 The interface and navigation have
been updated, new rules and rule options have been added, as well as
error checking has been enhanced. The file listing now supports the
following extensions: MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, APE, OGG and VQF
- File Lister:
I wanted a quick way of listing files into a text files so I added this
little ditty. With 2.1, File Lister now remembers the last file used,
appends .txt if you forgot and prompts to overwrite, now remembers the
name of the last file used to save a list, now asks if you want the
directory prefixed on each file, now also includes a directory header
regardless and now asks you if you want to append to the list and
reprompts you if you say yes.
- New Quick Jump List: This feature also you to define a
list of directories that you want to open. This list is bound to the
Windows-J key.
- New Quick Uninstall: This feature is meant to replace
Microsoft's slow and aging "Add/Remove" applet. It is now bound to the
Windows-A key and can be disabled in the Options menu. If disabled
Windows-A key will bring up Micorsoft's "Add/Remove" tool.
- Change IE Proxy Settings: Again too many click to get to
change these settings. It is bound to the Windows-P key and available
from the right-click or Tools menu.
- Alpha-Numeric Phone Number Converter: Can't stand looking
up 1-800-MATTRESS OR 1-800-QUICKIE, just copy or type your text and run
this and you'll get the real phone number equivalent. It will also
reformat the number with proper dashes.
- Stop Services: So many damned stupid services the new
feature will give you control to be able to stop them. Look under the
Tools|Stop Services menu. There is also now a configurable stop
services option, just load up the 'Customize Services to Stop' and use
the 'Stop All Checked Services Below' Option. You can also enable this
behavior from startup from the Options menu, just select 'On Startup
Stop Checked Services'.
- Save Current Window: The previous version allowed you to
save the whole screen as a bitmap or graphics file, now with version
2.1 you can save a specific window.
- Sort List:
I was just getting tired of loading Excel to sort a small list of lines
so I added this.
Tweaks
- Tweaks/Hacks: There are also several "MR Tech Approved"
tweaks/hacks that will have your computer humming like: Enable RegEdit
Access, Disable Login Messages, Display Login Name, Increase Icon
Resolution and a lot more. This feature isn't meant to replace the
hundred other tweak utilities out there, it's just meant to reestablish
the most annoying ones every time you login, like Not Clearing Login
Name and Clearing Login Messages, etc. With 2.1 the Option menu is now
an Option control panel.
(Super Tweaks/Hacks Coming soon!!)
- Microsoft IE Multi-Threaded Tweak: by default the standard
# of multiple downloads or threads that the browser will make to the
server is 4 non proxy and 2 via proxy. If you have the bandwidth and
memory, kicking this up will force more threads to be able to download
more at the same time. Even though threads are reused and not
reestablished, having more of them does speed things up if you have the
bandwidth. On a system with 128megs of memory I've yet to experience
any problems with having this at 32 threads. This will only get used if
you are download several pages at the same time or if a page has A LOT
of graphics, etc.
- Change Windows Install Path: This will allow you to change
the path that Windows registered that you used as the primary install
path. This is useful in case you remap drives or have the installation
files on a harddrive, but want to move their location. This is
available from the Tools menu in the main window.
Other
- Command Line Options:

URL History

- Activate ScreenSaver: From the right-click menu you can
now activate the screensaver.
- Express Upgrade: the Check for Newer Version now does a
Express Upgrade without prompting if you agree to upgrade. Express
Upgrade will also work with the Check for Newer Version at Startup
option in the Options menu.
- Super
Optimized: Applied several optimization techniques and changed
compile method to reduce program size by 37%, added a Memory
Optimization technique that I had been contemplating and the program
now uses up to 90+% less active memory under Windows NT/2000/XP. That
and I've removed any old unused variables, functions and subroutines.
With version 2.1, the code has been gutted out and fine tuned with
optimization, code cleanup, programming standards, etc. Enjoy!!
